  • Dr Katie McDonald

    Dr McDonald is a consultant histopathologist in Sheffield with a special interest in gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). She went to medical school at the University of Glasgow and undertook training in histopathology in multiple hospitals across London. She currently reports gynaecological and endocrine pathology and has an active autopsy practice. She leads the histopathology arm of the supra-regional GTD service, taking referrals for opinions in the North of England and Wales. With Dr Stenton, she reviews several hundred cases of molar disease per year (and a handful of the rarer gestational tumours) from this geographically diverse population. She is also a Training Programme Director for Yorkshire and the Humber, ensuring the next generation of histopathologists are prepared for independent practice.

  • Dr. Baljeet Kaur

    Consultant Cellular pathologist

    Dr Baljeet Kaur is a consultant histopathologist and an international expert on trophoblastic diseases and malignant ovarian Germ cell tumours. She is a Gynae-pathologist and leads the gynae external quality assurance (EQA) scheme for UK pathologists. She is lead for  regional pathology services for Trophoblastic disease unit and Malignant Ovarian Germ Cell Tumour service (MOGCT) based at Charing Cross Hospital . She has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings and has published widely on Trophoblastic diseases. She is co-author of GTD chapter in WHO Classification of Tumours 2020 (WHO Blue book) and ICCR Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia dataset. She is the key pathologist in ISSTD (International Society for the Study of Trophoblastic Diseases), EOTTD (European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Disease) and European network for rare adult solid Cancer (EURACAN). Baljeet has a large national and international referral practice and receives over 600 consult cases for her expert opinion.
